History of the Firm

Led by Philip Youssef, Taxnet Business Consultants has grown through longstanding client relationships, referrals, and strategic mergers with smaller accounting practices.

Today, the firm operates as a comprehensive financial services practice, supporting small business owners across Australia with more than just tax compliance. We help clients grow revenue, improve profitability, build business value, and create long-term wealth through tailored tax-effective strategies, including superannuation and investment planning.

While we work with clients across a wide range of industries, we maintain a strong focus on small businesses, including trades, professional services, primary producers, property developers, and self-managed superannuation funds. We also specialise in supporting medical professionals, particularly dentists, pharmacists, and medical specialists, offering services such as BAS preparation, bookkeeping, company and trust administration, and financial planning referrals.

In addition to accounting services, Philip provides expert mortgage broking and refinancing solutions. Working with major banks and alternative lenders, he helps clients secure competitive lending outcomes tailored to their individual needs.

Philip Youssef - Principal

Philip is a CPA Accountant and FBAA who has been servicing small to medium sized businesses for over 13 years. He completed his Accounting Degree with a major in Finance and Commerce at Swinburne and La Trobe Universities. Further, he is also an accredited Mortgage Broker assisting with both personal and commercial loans. Philip specialises in the full scope of Accounting and Taxation with particular interest in the medical industry.

Outside of work, Philip enjoys spending quality time with his wife Mirel, and their 3 children. His young family keep him busy, juggling between sports, outings and play games at home. Philip is also a movie buff and enjoys having a drink with friends. Philip serves regularly at his local Coptic Orthodox Church and is committed to attending Sunday services with his family.

Angela Au Yeung - Senior Accountant

Angela has been with Taxnet and its predecessor for over 15 years and has a wealth of experience in Accounting and Taxation matters. She is a Property Development ‘expert’ and has a lot of experience with a number of accounting software programs including Cashflow Manager, MYOB and Quickbooks.

While she is a self confessed workaholic, outside the office she is a budding ‘Masterchef’ who enjoys cooking and trying new recipes. The team at the office congregate around Angela’s desk when she brings in a sample of her cooking! Angela is fluent in Cantonese and comes from a large family (one of 10 children) and also enjoys spending time with her 16 nieces and nephews.

Mirel Youssef - Practice Manager

Mirel studied a Bachelor of Optometry at UNSW. Although she is not an Accountant by trade, Mirel has always had a strength with numbers and is the Practice Manager at Taxnet. She is the first point of contact, responsible for attending and assisting with the daily needs of running the practice. Mirel has a strong passion & is committed to ensuring Taxnet’s clients and staff are satisfied and their needs are met.

Outside of work, Mirel enjoys spending time with her husband Philip, and their 3 children which is her passion. She enjoys her culinary adventures and having a drink with friends.

Gabby Dowling - Administrator/Mortgage Broker Assistant

Gabby joined the Taxnet team recently and brings asset to the team with her mortgage broking assistance background. Gabby enjoys dealing with clients and is always open to learning different and new aspects of finance. She brings a wealth of knowledge with mortgage broking and her dealings with a variety of banks as well as administration background.
Whilst not at work, Gabby is a travel enthusiast who loves seeing the different parts of the world. She regularly attends her ballroom and Rock & Roll dancing classes and is a movie fanatic. In her spare time and when not globetrotting, Gabby enjoys having a night of dinner, dancing and laughs or perhaps a drive down the Yarra Valley to visit the wineries with her hair blowing in the air in her convertible.
